'PLAN B' Launches in Hawaii!!!

We got the boat out today... finally! Yeah!!!! It took some finagling, and it probably wasn't the best/ideal weather conditions, but we did it. Plan B finally hit the warm waters of the South Pacific :o) Rocco even made the voyage, although it was a short one. It was really windy & choppy so we just stayed within Hickam's harbor area. We even managed to get out the huge raft for a little adventure riding (Connor passed on that one but Will and I took turns). Then it was time to get her in... didn't want to push our luck in bad weather. I'd say it was a successful mission.

Green Thumb???

I did a little gardening this week. We'll see how long the flowers stay alive, but I am almost impressed. Granted, the palm trees were there and so were some ivy-type plants (most of which I ripped out). But now we have a little color on our front lawn :o)

Sand in the Pants... or Rocks?

We were over at the beach the other day sucking up more gorgeous sun and Connor said that he had rocks in his pants. I looked at him, a bit concerned, and blew it off thinking he was talking about sand. So I told him to rinse his butt off out in the water. Made complete sense. He decided to use his bucket instead. Whatever.. the kid is great at improvising so I thought it was a great idea. An hour later he had to go pee so I took him to the bathroom. When I peeled his shorts off I have to say I was speechless over the amount of rocks, yes rocks - not sand - that fell onto the floor, most of which were bigger than pebbles you'd find in a fish tank. OUCH!!! Seriously, I wanted to get a broom to sweep up the rocks because someone was going to hurt their feet in that stall. Never mind my kids butt...

Teacher? Not Quite..

So after much research, phone calls, internet searches, and driving around, it seems that Connor won't be back in school until August. He'll start at the Navy Hale Keiki School the beginning of the school year with all the other kids in a preK class. All to the tune of $4500/year, which has been hard to swallow. The scary thing is that NHKS is one of the cheaper schools around. The public schools here are terrible - for a multitude of reasons, so they aren't really an option. So.... we've decided that we need to keep the ball rolling with school work, so that Connor isn't behind come August. That's where I come in. Not exactly the teacher type, but we've been setting aside an hour each morning (for now, more later) to get cracking on preschool work. Once he sits down and accepts the fact that it's 'school time' he does pretty good. So we'll see how it goes. Hopefully come August he'll be able to write his full name & all the letters of the alphabet, plus the numbers 1 to 20. At least that's my initial goal, among other things. Crossing my fingers! GO ME! GO CONNOR!
