It's been a battle with the carpenter bees out back. They seem to have developed a liking for our deck. On this day, it went in the kids favor: kids 13, bees 0.
The Cardinals are off to a good start. They keep score by how many outs are made, since everyone bats each inning. Think we won, not that I'm counting;o) Way to go dude! Hope you like baseball as much as I loved softball. He has a look in his eye like he wants to kill the ball when he's up to bat. That's my boy!!!!!
It's that time of the year again... you know, when I get really loud and can't keep my mouth shut. That's ok, you know I am still going to be telling the kids how to make a double play, where the play is going to be, and how to step into a swing. That's ok... Connor well aware of those things already. Let's play some ball!
Connor was very proud of his Ben Franklin project for school. He colored a drawing of him that we found online, setup a timeline with key facts, and highlighted 3 major accomplishments. Not bad kid, not bad at all.
A couple of weeks ago Connor's pack had their banquet. The desserts were to be provided and made by the 'fellers.' So Connor and Will made multiple marble cakes, stacked them just so, and trimmed them so that their cake was a tasty sample of the pinewood derby. Couldn't be just a normal cake with icing. Oh no, that would be too easy. Have to say their cake was the talk of the banquet! Total dude cake.
Connor had to do a science project that was an example of reduce, reuse or recycle. So he chose to reuse the apple juice container and make a bird feeder out of it. Stuck it on a plate and cut tiny triangle holes in the bottom for the seed to fall out a bit onto the plate. I like it!
It's hard to believe that the basketball season is almost over. He has one last game this Saturday. Kind of disappointed over the quality of shots I have taken. Of course I am no photographer, but something is always off in every picture. Not sure if its the lighting or what. Tried different settings too. Oh well. His level of play has really gotten much better since the beginning of the season. The lack of coach in the beginning was rough. But they've had Coach Jen the last month or so and she's really helped them develop some good skills. It's been a pretty good season. Great job Bears!
